Scale, drive ratio, and cable length

Vintage KPH and a mini MPH speedometer do not share a ratio. The tach for the CB500 family is stated as 7:1, not 4:1. The black cable is 38.5 in. end to end and it does name the 1975-76 CB500T.

1400 rpm is not 2240 rpm

The vintage KPH unit prints 60 km/h = 1400 rpm and runs to 220 KPH at 85mm. The white-face mini is 2.25 in., 0-140 MPH, and 60 MPH = 2240 rpm. It says the ratio matches stock-type CB cables, and the gauge is not a stock-type replacement. Do not mix 1400 rpm with 2240 rpm.

Tach drive, cable, and face decals

A 7:1 tach does not fix a wrong speedometer ratio. This tach says 4:1 is the CB750 drive, not the drive for CB500, CB550, CB350F, CB400F, and CB400T. The cable is the 38.5 in. piece that names the 1975-76 CB500T. MPH face decals go on the original gauges and state no drive ratio.

Ratio, tach drive, or cable?

The vintage unit is 85mm and the tach is 2.25 in. What mount do I plan?

The vintage KPH speedometer needs custom mounting, an 85mm diameter, and mounting points 57mm center to center. The mini tach includes a V plate and still needs a separate bracket. Do not assume one bracket fits both diameters.

Will MPH face decals change the cable ratio?

No. The face set is MPH artwork for the original speedometer and tach. It must sit on the original face to illuminate, and both gauges come apart. It does not replace the 38.5 in. cable or set a 7:1 or 2240 drive.

How long is the cable that names this twin?

38.5 inches end to end, black, made in Japan, replacing 44830-425-870, for the 1975-76 CB500T. Measure the cable on the bike if a previous one was cut or extended. This is the only length given for this cable.
