Choosing stock-style or custom gauges

Choose the display units, drive specification and mounting arrangement before selecting the gauge size. The stock-style replacements and compact custom instruments differ in dial range, lighting and supplied mounting hardware.

MPH and KM/H drive specifications

The stock-style and deluxe mini MPH speedometers specify 60 MPH at 2,240 cable revolutions per minute. The stock-style KM/H unit instead lists 100 km/h at 2,330 cable revolutions per minute, a 0–240 km/h dial, an approximately 4.6-inch housing and a 3.9-inch face. Compare the complete specification for the units chosen.

Chrome covers for retained gauges

Chrome cover set 02-2480 fits over stock-type instruments and measures 103 mm across the base, 87 mm at the top and 37 mm tall. One cover has a trip-reset cutout. The speedometer and tachometer are expressly excluded from this cover-only product.

Gauge questions

Do the custom gauges include the handlebar mounting bracket?

The deluxe mini speedometer includes a V-plate, and the micro tachometer includes a mounting plate. Both require a separate bracket; their descriptions name options 03-0740, 03-0741, 03-0762 and 03-0763. Select the mounting arrangement before ordering.

Will the stock-style replacements exactly reproduce the 1975 faces?

An exact year-specific face match is not promised. The stock-style gauge descriptions warn that Honda’s face designs changed between years, although the products list the 1975–78 F. Compare the desired design before selecting complete replacements.

Does the micro tachometer still need a mechanical drive?

Yes. Micro tachometer 03-0764 is a mechanical 4:1 instrument, with LED illumination for the dial. Match the fitted drive and cable connection when choosing this 1.9-inch custom tachometer.
