Identify the instruments fitted before selecting housings, lenses and seals. The internal seal has a gauge-brand restriction, and the replacement black covers may require a side trip-reset opening.

Cushions for the two instruments

Meter cushion 73-0096 is ordered individually, with one used for the speedometer and one for the tachometer. Order the quantity needed for the repair rather than automatically renewing both.

Chrome speedometer back plate

The genuine Honda speedometer back plate replaces 37236-426-000 and 37236-393-008. It is not a tachometer back plate; the two-piece black cover set is a separate product.

Gauge hardware questions

Are the black replacement covers ready for a side trip-reset control?

They arrive without the side trip-reset hole. The supplier says that opening must be drilled where required, so allow for that modification when planning the restoration.

Is the internal rubber seal the seal used directly with the glass lens?

No. The product FAQ distinguishes the internal gauge seal from the separate seal used directly with a 92 mm glass lens. This internal seal lists stock-type Honda ND gauges, so identify the gauge brand and the seal location before ordering.

Should I add separate crimp rings to the black cover set?

The UK-made 49-0252 set already contains two semi-gloss black covers with crimp rings. The separate ring pair is useful when retaining existing cases, but buying the cover set does not by itself call for another pair.
