1982 Honda CB900F Supersport · Brake & Clutch Buying guide
The CB900F has hydraulic disc brakes and a cable-operated wet clutch. A soft brake, a sticking caliper and a clutch that drags need different checks. Identify the failed assembly before choosing pads, hydraulic internals or clutch parts.

The stock front and rear calipers are twin-piston designs, but their pistons and pad applications differ. The listed 90 x 49 x 9mm pads serve the front; the 10.5mm-thick option serves the rear. If calipers or master cylinders have been changed, identify those components before relying on the original application.
Check the cable and release adjustment before dismantling a dragging or slipping clutch. If the clutch is opened, keep the seven number 1 friction plates, one number 2, six single steels and one riveted steel plate B in their specified positions. Measure and inspect the plates rather than replacing a whole stack by guesswork.
No. Check for leaks, trapped air, damaged hoses and sticking caliper parts. Inspect piston and bore surfaces before choosing seals or internal master-cylinder parts. New seals cannot repair badly pitted metal; verify firm pressure, full release and no leakage before riding.
First check the cable route, lever pivot and specified free play. If the release mechanism works correctly but the clutch still drags, inspect the plate stack and basket. Cable faults and warped or damaged plates require different repairs.
Identify the fitted master cylinder first. The replacement lever for assembly 08-0457 is expressly unsuitable for stock Honda master cylinders. Match the lever, pivot and switch arrangement to the actual assembly before choosing a finish.
