A 1982 CB900F clutch rebuild should keep four plate types separate before adding springs or damper parts. The normal steel plate and riveted double plate have different roles and counts. Inspect the assembly and record the components needing replacement instead of choosing one plate by a broad clutch title.

1982 Honda CB900F Supersport · Clutch Rebuild Parts Buying guide
Inspect the stack before deciding which parts to replace
Keep the four plate types distinct: seven number 1 friction plates, one number 2, six single steels and one riveted steel plate B. Check friction thickness, steel-plate flatness, spring condition and basket wear before turning those counts into a replacement order.
The six single steel plates reference 22321-425-000. Riveted plate B references 22322-425-000 and occupies its own position. Check steel plates for heat damage, scoring and warpage, and inspect plate B’s rivets; do not substitute a normal single plate because the outer shape looks similar.
Choose springs and dampers for the diagnosed fault
The performance spring kit contains six matched springs and can increase lever effort. It cannot repair warped steels, worn friction material or poor adjustment. The seven-damper kit addresses clutch-basket damper wear, which is a separate inspection from the friction stack.
Buying questions
Will performance springs fix a slipping clutch?
They can increase clamping force in a serviceable clutch, but first check adjustment, friction plates, steel plates and basket condition. Stronger springs do not repair damaged plates and may make the lever heavier. Replace the matched spring set together when that is the required repair.
Can I replace the riveted steel plate with a normal single plate?
No interchange is established. Riveted plate B, reference 22322-425-000, is a different component from single plate 22321-425-000. Preserve the specified stack, and inspect its rivets and faces as well as the other plates.
Does clutch rattle mean I need the damper kit?
Confirm where the noise and play originate before ordering. Inspect the basket dampers, riveted plate, hub and stack as appropriate. The damper kit supplies rubber dampers and screws; it cannot replace worn friction plates or correct cable adjustment.
