Keep the three cable functions identified

The CB900F uses separate opening and closing throttle cables plus a choke cable. Check the complete route and throttle housing, especially after handlebar changes. A correct cable reference cannot compensate for a damaged sleeve or a route that binds at steering lock.

Use the dimension only where it is stated

The 47-inch figure belongs to the pull cable. It should not be assigned to the push or choke cable simply because they appear beside it. Check the end connections and available route, especially after changing the handlebar height or instrument position.

Check the controls after routing

Set cable free play by the Honda procedure and verify smooth opening and positive throttle return at full left and right steering lock. Check that the choke reaches fully on and fully off without binding. Resolve any sticking or steering-related change before riding.

What if the throttle sticks after fitting a new cable?

Check cable routing and free play, the end fittings, throttle sleeve and housing. Verify positive return with the handlebars at both locks. A new cable does not make a damaged sleeve, tight route or incorrectly adjusted control safe to use.

Can I use the pull cable as the closing cable?

Choose by function and end fittings. The pull cable lists 17910-series references and 47 inches overall; the closing or push cable is the separate 17920-425-030 application. Do not transfer the pull cable’s dimension to the other cable.

How should a handlebar change affect my cable order?

Compare the required route with the controls in their final positions and the bars at both locks. Allow the correct free play without stretching or trapping either throttle cable, and verify full choke travel. Original-model fitment alone does not establish suitability for a changed cockpit.
