Check the horn circuit before replacing its branch lead

Use the branch for a branch-wiring fault

Sub-harness B is separate from the main loom and does not include a horn or handlebar switch. Compare its connectors with the installed parts. A changed horn or altered wiring needs its own compatibility check.

Test the rest of the circuit

Check the appropriate fuse, electrical supply, grounds or return path and horn-button circuit using the correct diagram. If the branch wiring is sound, replacing it will not repair a failed horn or switch. After repair, secure the lead away from heat and moving parts and verify operation.

Practical questions

The horn is silent. Should I order the connecting harness first?

Inspect and test before ordering. A blown fuse, poor connection, faulty switch or failed horn can produce the same symptom. Replace the short harness when its wiring or terminals are the diagnosed fault.

Will this lead automatically fit an aftermarket horn?

No. Compare terminal type and wiring requirements with the fitted horn. The original-style sub-harness does not establish electrical suitability for a different horn or a higher-current horn conversion.

Do damaged horn wires require replacing the main loom?

Not always. If damage is confined to the separate horn branch and the main-harness connector is sound, the correct sub-harness may address the repair. Inspect both sides of the connection before deciding.
