1981 Honda CB900C Custom · Suspension & Wheel Service Buying guide
The original 1981 CB900C has air-assisted forks, linked rear air shocks and shaft final drive. The listed 325 mm replacement shocks use coil springs and preload adjustment. Identify the fitted assembly before ordering fork seals, shocks or wheel parts.

The 37 × 50 × 11 mm fork oil seals are separate from the dust seals and cap O-rings. The original air-assisted forks need the correct year’s service procedure: Honda revised fork data in the 1981 CB900C addendum. Shared replacement-seal dimensions do not mean every year uses the same refill instructions.
Two 6302-2RS bearings are specified per front wheel. The front wheel seal kit contains two seals, while the rear wheel seal is one piece. Those are separate product types and quantities; inspect the wheel to establish which need replacement.
The featured 325 mm sets specify four-position spring preload adjustment. Honda’s original shocks use a linked air system, so its rear-air pressure instructions do not describe these aftermarket sets. Follow the replacement maker’s fitting and adjustment instructions.
Locate the leak first. The CB900C has a separate shaft final-drive assembly, while the listed wheel seals serve the wheel hub positions. A front seal kit or single rear-wheel seal is not a complete final-drive seal kit.
Not from length or model filtering alone. A different length requires its own mounting, travel and clearance assessment. The featured replacement is 325 mm eye-to-eye; the Custom’s shaft-drive geometry and stand position need assessment before choosing a shorter set.
