Inspect the metal before ordering seals

Honda’s CB900F calipers have two pistons each, with different front and rear sizes. Inspect the piston surfaces, bores, seal grooves and sliding hardware before deciding whether the job needs seals, pistons or a replacement caliper.

Keep kit coverage separate from piston condition

The dual front kit is listed for both front calipers. The deluxe kit lists seals, O-rings, boots and hardware but excludes pistons, pads, hoses and fluid. Compare those contents with the inspection findings; neither package can restore a badly damaged piston or bore.

Match rear parts to the rear caliper

The listed front piston is 30.15 x 35mm and the rear piston-with-seals is 27 x 35mm. Honda’s F-specific inspection data also distinguishes these front and rear diameters. Use those positions with the replacement references, and have worn components assessed against the manual rather than using a rounded catalogue dimension as a service limit.

Buying questions

Can I reuse a pitted piston with new seals?

A piston with pitting or scoring in the seal-swept area needs assessment and replacement when damaged. Inspect the bore and seal grooves too. New seals cannot make a damaged sliding surface sound, and a kit is not a substitute for that inspection.

What should be checked if the brake still drags after rebuilding?

Check piston movement, caliper slides, pad seating and the rest of the hydraulic system using the Honda procedure. Confirm full brake release and free wheel rotation, as well as firm pressure and no leakage, before riding.

How do I avoid mixing the front and rear pistons?

Match the position and reference: 45107-MA3-006 is the listed 30.15 x 35mm front piston; 43107-MA3-006 is the listed 27 x 35mm rear piston with seals. Inspect the actual calipers if the motorcycle has replacement brakes.
