1980 Honda CB900C Custom · Wheel Bearings & Seals Buying guide

Count bearings and seals for the correct wheel

The front 6302-2RS bearing, front seal pair and rear seal serve distinct locations. A bearing reference does not establish seal-kit contents or compatibility with a replacement wheel.

Order the front components independently

The sealed 6302-2RS front bearing is sold individually, with two specified per original front wheel. The front seal kit contains two seals and the rear-wheel seal is a separate single piece. Inspect bearings, spacers and seal-running surfaces independently; a seal kit does not renew rough bearings.

Check the rear-wheel application directly

The Custom’s rear wheel couples to a shaft final drive. Its wheel seal is not a complete seal kit for that separate gear case. Honda’s original Comstar wheel also requires its own inspection procedure; it should not be treated as a conventional adjustable wire-spoke wheel.

Buying questions

What speedometer connection needs attention during front-wheel work?

The original speedometer is driven from the front wheel. Honda shows the lower cable retained by a set screw for this arrangement. Check that connection and the drive while following the correct wheel-removal and installation procedure; a bearing or seal kit does not replace them.

Can a Comstar wheel be trued by adjusting spoke tension?

Honda’s original Comstar wheel is not serviced like a conventional wire-spoke wheel. Follow the runout and damage inspection in the manual; Honda directs wheel replacement when its specified runout limit is exceeded. Do not plan a spoke-adjustment repair from the category name.

Can the same seal kit be used at the rear?

The rear application is a separately listed single seal for the Custom. Match the wheel position and actual fitted hub instead of assuming the front pair can be divided between both wheels.
