Identify the cylinder before choosing its service parts

A complete master cylinder and an internal rebuild kit are different purchases. Identify the fitted cylinder, then match its reservoir diaphragm, protective boot and cap separately by the relevant replacement references.

Replacement cylinders in this category have different stated piston sizes and appearances. A similar-looking body does not establish an identical specification. Read the individual cylinder description and compare the brake system and switch arrangement before deciding whether it suits your motorcycle.

Identify the smaller parts by their references

The diaphragm replaces 45520-300-000 and the protective boot replaces 45522-300-010. They are separate service items. The reproduction cap replaces 45513-341-771 and includes a plastic O-ring. Compare those references with the fitted cylinder before adding small parts.

Useful questions before ordering

Does every master cylinder here use the same piston size?

No. Complete replacement listings state different piston sizes, including a 14mm option and a 5/8-inch option. Compare the specific product with the brake arrangement fitted to your bike rather than assuming all cylinders have identical specifications.

Should I add the plastic O-ring when buying a reservoir cap?

The reproduction reservoir cap already includes its plastic O-ring. The separate O-ring is useful when retaining the existing compatible cap; do not add another automatically when buying the cap assembly.

Should I choose a rebuild kit by model year alone?

Use the year as a starting point, then identify the actual fitted master cylinder. Older motorcycles may carry replacement assemblies. The rebuild kit application and the cylinder design must agree before you select internal service parts.
