49mm Chrome Cap POD Air Filter for custom or restoration work on classic Honda CB motorcycles. Measure the outside diameter of the carburetor inlet...

1975 Honda CB500T · Air Filters, Vent Filters Buying guide

Measure the inlet, then decide

Check the outside diameter of the carb mouth. Order the pod only at 49 mm. Each filter is sold one at a time, and the maker says jetting may have to change after the install.

How to measure the inlet

Measure across the outside of the carburetor mouth, where the filter or airbox hose actually clamps. An inside diameter, or a guess from the airbox opening, will pick the wrong pod. Both carburetors on this twin should be measured. If one inlet is not 49 mm, do not force this filter onto it.

Jetting is a follow-up, not a number on the box

The pod does not include jets and does not name a richer main or pilot. The note is only that jetting and tuning may have to change. After the install, read the spark plugs before you change sizes. The #35 slow jet sold for this twin is a pilot for the 99124-286 style, not a pod-specific recommendation.

Pod filter questions

Is this the stock airbox filter?

No. It is a custom chrome-cap pod for an open carb inlet. Use it when you have measured 49 mm and you are not trying to refill the original airbox. A stock airbox element is a different part.

How many pods does the twin need?

One per carburetor you convert. The filter is sold one at a time. Both carburetors means two pods, after you measure both inlets. One pod is correct if only one carburetor is being changed.

Which jet should I buy with the pod?

None is named. The maker only says a pod may require jetting and tuning changes. Do not assume the #35 pilot is the new size. Ride, then read the plugs, and change a jet only to correct what you see.
