Front-brake, rear-brake and oil-pressure switches serve different circuits on your 1979 CB650. Identify which warning or light function needs attention, then compare its mounting and electrical connection. Replacement controls can change which brake switch is required even when the motorcycle’s year matches.

Restore reliable brake light activation with this Rear Stop Light Switch, designed as a direct replacement for several original Honda rear brake switches. This...
The front brake switch, pedal-operated rear switch and oil-pressure switch are separate replacements. Match the component at the fault location rather than choosing from a shared Honda reference or appearance alone.
The front switch is listed for the 1979–80 CB650 and references 35340-422-013. If a previous owner changed the master cylinder or control assembly, compare that assembly’s switch mount and terminals before ordering. A matching motorcycle year does not identify replacement controls.
Distinguish a warning fault from a switch fault
The oil-pressure switch is a separate component from either brake-light switch. Diagnose the warning circuit and the underlying condition using the appropriate service manual before replacing it. A new switch should not be used to assume that an unexplained oil-pressure warning has been resolved. If the oil-pressure warning stays on with the engine running, stop the engine and have actual oil pressure checked before riding.
Common buying questions
Can I use the rear switch for the front brake?
These are different replacements. The rear switch operates from the brake pedal, while the front switch fits the front control. Choose by position and mounting arrangement, then compare the existing electrical connection.
Does a replacement master cylinder affect switch choice?
It can. The featured front switch has a 1979–80 CB650 application, but a changed master cylinder or control may use another mounting or terminal arrangement. Identify the fitted control rather than relying only on the motorcycle model.
Will a new oil-pressure switch cure a warning light?
Only if the switch is the cause. Check the circuit and actual oil-pressure condition using the model’s service information before buying. The replacement’s listed application does not establish the cause of a warning on your motorcycle.
