1982 Honda CB650SC Nighthawk — Soupapes et composants de distribution
Cylinder-head work on the 1982 CB650SC calls for separate intake, exhaust and stem-seal decisions. Identify the positions needing repair after inspection of the head. The two valve references differ, while the eight-piece Viton set is a sealing package rather than a set of replacement valves.

Choose valves by position and seals by confirmed contents
The intake reference is 14711-426-003 and the exhaust reference 14721-426-003. The Kibblewhite set supplies eight 100% Viton seals. Use those facts with the actual condition of the guides, seats and stems when planning the order.
Both Japanese-made replacement valves have explicit 1982 CB650SC application, but their references and positions are different. Compare the required part with the dismantled head. Use the appropriate service limits rather than inferring that a new valve alone repairs every worn guide or seat. Each valve is sold individually; four intake valves and four exhaust valves replace all eight positions.
Use the verified seal package size
The Kibblewhite set contains eight Viton stem seals against reference 12209-333-005. Check whether another package already supplies the seals needed for the repair. Do not rely on an old product handle or a broad model-family description to infer a different quantity.
Valves & Stem Seals questions
What else should be checked when a valve is replaced?
Inspect the valve seat, spring, retainer and keepers; for an exhaust valve, also check installed height. Have the seat machined as needed, then set cam timing and valve clearance to Honda specifications after assembly.
What material is specified for the seal set?
The eight-piece Kibblewhite package is described as 100% Viton. Select it on the confirmed material, application and contents without assuming an unverified performance improvement.
Should valve guides be checked before ordering seals?
Measure valve-stem-to-guide clearance and have excessive guide wear corrected. New valves or stem seals do not establish that the guides are serviceable.
