Keep front and rear applications separate

A broad “front/rear” product title can describe different positions on different Hondas. For this Custom, use 67 × 49.5 × 9.5 mm front pads and 67 × 49.5 × 12 mm rear pads. Each listed set serves one caliper; replacing both front calipers requires two front sets.

Choose friction material after checking condition

A different pad compound cannot repair a sticking piston, damaged disc or hydraulic fault. Correct the cause of uneven wear or drag, use matching front-pad applications on both sides, and follow the pad maker’s bedding instructions.

Practical questions

Should squeal or uneven wear be treated with a different pad compound?

Inspect the caliper, disc and pad surfaces first. Contamination, disc runout or incorrect caliper installation can cause noise; a sticking brake can wear pads unevenly. Changing compound alone may leave the fault in place.

Can pads contaminated with brake fluid be reused?

Honda calls for contaminated pads to be discarded. Repair the leak, clean the disc as directed in the service manual and fit the correct replacement pads before returning the brake to service.

Will new pads fix a brake that stays on?

A dragging brake needs diagnosis of piston movement, the hydraulic system and lever or pedal return. Do not rely on new pads to free a sticking brake.
