1980 Honda CB900C Custom · Master Cylinder Parts Buying guide
A damaged reservoir, leaking cap and worn internal master-cylinder components require different parts. Check where the fault occurs and whether the installed unit is still the original Honda type.

The listed front reservoir is the four-screw style. Its kit requires reuse of the original diaphragm plate, so inspect and retain that plate during disassembly. A reservoir kit does not replace the internal piston and seals. A new diaphragm also cannot repair a cracked reservoir or damaged cap sealing surface.
For this year, the front rebuild references are 45530-422-305 or 45530-463-305; the rear reference is 43520-422-305. Match the actual casting and assembly, especially if controls have been changed. Follow the service manual for rebuilding, bleeding and checking full brake release.
Only if the diagnosed fault is in the reservoir assembly. Air, leaks and internal hydraulic faults need separate checks. Do not assume replacing the cap, plastic reservoir or diaphragm will restore pressure.
Not from the motorcycle’s model year alone. Identify the installed master cylinder and use its maker’s repair specification; piston and seal dimensions may differ.
Check the cap, reservoir rim and other sealing parts for cracks or distortion. On the four-screw kit, the original diaphragm plate must be reusable.
