1978 Honda CB750A · Master Cylinder & Rebuild Parts Buying guide

Identify the reservoir repair or complete assembly change

The rebuild kit is identified by application and reference without an itemized contents list. Reservoir pieces are separate products. Replacement assemblies state their piston specifications and a separate-switch requirement for the 1978 Hondamatic.

Inspect each reservoir component separately

Identify the damaged sealing or protective piece before choosing a replacement. Compare its reference and the fitted reservoir, then check the selected package for any item already supplied.

Record the installed master cylinder before choosing repair parts

Keep the assembly identity and piston specification with the repair notes. The two replacement choices state 14mm and 5/8-inch pistons, respectively; their broad year applications do not establish the original cylinder’s bore or make their internal repair parts interchangeable.

Common questions

Is the kit’s internal inventory specified?

The rebuild description gives the application and Honda replacement reference but does not itemize the kit’s individual pieces. Confirm the required contents before ordering, particularly when a separate diaphragm or rubber part is also needed for the inspected repair.

Do both aftermarket assemblies name the same replacement cap?

Yes. Both the 14mm assembly and the 5/8-inch assembly name replacement cap 29-0054. That shared cap reference identifies a reservoir part; it does not establish that their different-size pistons or internal rebuild parts are the same.

Do the listed replacement assemblies include the needed switch?

The 14mm and 5/8-inch listings state that 1977–78 CB750A applications need a separate hydraulic brake-light switch. Review that requirement with the existing wiring and brake configuration before choosing. This guide does not infer electrical compatibility or a stock piston size from their appearance.
