1981 Honda CB900F Supersport · Rear Light Hardware & Switch Buying guide
A cracked lens, stripped screw mounting and a brake light that works from only one control need different checks. Inspect the lens and housing, then test front-lever and rear-pedal brake-light operation separately before selecting parts.
The catalogue’s red lens references 33702-422-671 for the CB900F Supersport; the CB900C uses a different listed lens. The four-screw set references 90147-147-671. Inspect the gasket and housing as well as the lens, and do not force fasteners into cracked or stripped mounting points.
The front and rear brake controls have separate switches. The featured rear switch is pulled by the pedal linkage. Check its spring, adjustment, connector and electrical operation; if neither control lights the stop lamp, inspect the shared lamp and wiring too.
The front and rear switches are separate. Inspect the rear pedal-operated switch, its spring and wiring, and test it using the Honda procedure. A working front switch does not prove that the rear switch or linkage is sound.
The CB900F red lens is listed separately under reference 33702-422-671. Inspect the housing, gasket and fastener points before deciding a lens-only repair is sufficient. The screws do not repair a damaged housing.
Match the original fastener reference and length, seat the lens squarely and start the screws by hand. Tighten evenly without forcing the plastic. Check stripped or cracked mounting points rather than using extra tightening to hold the lens.
