The carburetor rebuild choices for the 1982 CB900C Custom supply different jet selections. Compare the actual fitted carburetors and removed components before choosing a kit; a package’s included jet numbers are contents information, not a universal tuning prescription for every motorcycle.

Match the 1982 jet design before choosing between rebuild kits
The two featured kits have different supplied jets and needles. Honda’s 1982 addendum also gives a slow-jet removal step that must be read with the base carburetor chapter. Identify the installed bank and each metering part before treating either kit as an exact factory calibration.
Do not fit every supplied metering part by default
The standard kit lists #68/#105 mains and a #35 pilot; the deluxe kit lists #69/#105 mains, a #38 pilot and two needle designations. These are different contents. Match the original jet body, circuit and carburetor code, and use the correct Honda data before changing a serviceable jet or needle.
Keep the 1982 slow-jet procedure with the correct carburetors
Honda’s 1982 addendum specifies removal of the slow-jet plug and slow jet during the described carburetor service. Do not transfer an earlier press-in jet listing or removal method to an unidentified later bank. The separate #105–#120 main-jet assortment still requires the correct jet style and evidence-based tuning.
Carb Rebuild Kits & Jets questions
Do the different kits provide the same factory jetting?
Their contents differ, and neither contents list proves a universal stock calibration. Compare the carburetor identity and original components, including the primary and secondary mains, before deciding which kit parts should be used.
Can an earlier press-in pilot-jet set be assumed to fit the 1982 bank?
No. Read the 1982 slow-jet service update and inspect the actual jet body and mounting. Earlier catalog coverage does not establish later fitment. Carburetor swaps are another reason to identify the bank itself.
Should all jets be increased after installing a different exhaust?
No automatic size increase is established. First restore fuel supply, float-valve sealing and intake integrity, then assess the complete intake/exhaust setup and mixture. The assortment offers options, not a guaranteed tune.
