Match the side plate, not just the Honda number

Look at the chain you removed. Peanut side plate is 219T, stated at 1800 lb. Stepped parallel side plate is 219FTSS, stated at 1896 lb. Nothing here says which plate the 1976 engine used originally.

The shared Honda number is not a free choice

Both chains replace 14401-283-003, so the number alone will not tell them apart. The type string is the difference: 219T versus 219FTSS. Put the old chain next to the description and match the side plate. Buying the other plate style because the Honda number matches is how the new chain fails to match the old one.

Clip link is included, a second clip is not the chain

Each chain says it includes a clip link. That does not make the two chains interchangeable. If you only tore the clip and the side plates still match one of these types, you still need the chain whose plate matches, not a random clip from the other type.

Which chain did the 1976 CB500T use?

Neither chain says which one the 1976 bike used. The choices are 219T and 219FTSS, both for the 1975-76 CB500T, both replacing 14401-283-003. Match the side plate you removed.

Are the lengths different?

No. Both are 128 links with pitch .3061. The side plate and the stated tensile strength differ: 1800 lb for 219T and 1896 lb for 219FTSS.

Do I get a master link?

Each description says the chain includes a clip link. Extra clip links are not part of that sentence.
