1981 Honda CB650 · Suspension & Wheel Parts Buying guide
Fork seals, a tapered steering-bearing kit and a 335 mm shock set cover different service jobs. Compare measurements and mounting details before building a broader front-end or rear-suspension order.

The fork seals are specified at 35 × 48 × 10.5/11 mm. The steering kit is a separate tapered-bearing conversion with upper and lower races. Identify both assemblies before buying parts; matching the fork diameter alone does not prove every front-end component fits.
The product photos show an upper eye and lower clevis. The selected set is listed at a nominal 335 mm eye-to-clevis with bushings, inserts, washers and a preload wrench. Confirm the supplier’s clevis measuring reference and compare the fitted mounting dimensions before ordering. Identify wheel bearings and spokes separately by the fitted hub and wheel.
No numerical spring rate or rider-and-luggage load rating is supplied in the full shock record. Four positions describe the available preload adjustment, not a verified load limit. Obtain the shock supplier’s load and setup guidance before choosing the set for a particular carried weight.
The selected Japanese-made kit includes upper and lower tapered bearing races. Inspect the steering assembly and confirm its application before planning the conversion.
Identify the fitted wheel and hub first. Bearings, seals, spoke dimensions and retention hardware must match the actual assembly; the frame year alone is insufficient after a swap.
