Choose a sound seal as well as the right thread

The 2007 919 drain connection needs both a compatible plug and a sound sealing washer. The offered magnetic plug is M12 × 1.5; the washer is 12 × 18 × 1 mm. These are product dimensions, so compare them with any repaired or altered drain before ordering.

A new washer cannot repair damaged threads

The washer seals at the plug’s seat, while the thread holds the plug in place. Check both areas if the drain leaks. An oversize plug, thread insert or damaged seat needs its own identification and repair decision; forcing the listed M12 × 1.5 plug into an unsuitable opening is not a fit check.

Use the magnetic plug with normal oil maintenance

The magnet is intended to collect ferrous steel particles, not aluminum debris. It supplements the normal oil filter and oil-change routine. Clean and inspect the drain parts during service, follow the applicable installation instructions, and check for leaks after refilling.

Practical questions

Is a new washer enough, or should I order the plug too?

Inspect the existing plug and sealing seat first. If the plug is correct and undamaged, a suitable washer may be all the hardware needed. Replace or upgrade the plug only after confirming its thread and the condition of the drain opening.

What does Honda say about replacing the drain washer?

The 2007 US/Canada owner’s manual says to inspect the washer and replace it every other oil change. The seller recommends a fresh washer whenever the plug is removed. That more frequent replacement is a conservative choice; a damaged washer should not be reused.

Does a magnetic plug let me extend the oil-change interval?

No extension is established for this product. Keep the oil and filter maintenance schedule for the motorcycle. The magnet catches only certain particles and does not make contaminated or aged oil serviceable again.
