1981 Honda CB900F Supersport · Horn Wiring Buying guide

Trace the horn fault to the damaged connection

Sub-harness A repairs the branch attached to the horn. A silent horn can also have a supply, switch, ground or horn-unit fault. Use the wiring diagram to identify the cause before choosing the branch instead of a larger loom repair.

Inspect both sides of the connection

Match reference 32101-438-000 to the branch being repaired. Check the mating terminals and nearby main wiring as well as the removable lead. Replacing one side of a corroded or overheated connection may leave the original fault in place.

Aftermarket horns need a separate electrical check

Compare the fitted horn’s terminals, current requirement and installation instructions before reusing the stock-style branch. The original CB900F application does not establish that the wiring or switch can supply every aftermarket horn. Choose the wiring repair only after those requirements are known.

Buying questions

Does a silent horn mean the sub-harness has failed?

No. Check the supply, horn switch, connections, ground path and horn unit using the wiring diagram. Replace the branch when testing or visible damage identifies it as the fault.

Will this branch suit an aftermarket horn?

Compare connector type and the horn maker’s current and wiring requirements. The stock application does not verify a modified horn circuit or prove that the original switch and wiring can carry the new load.

What if the connector is damaged on both sides?

Inspect the sub-harness terminal and the mating connection together. Replace or properly repair every damaged connection and find the cause of overheating or corrosion before reconnecting. A new branch alone will not repair damage in the main loom or horn terminal.
