1971 Honda CB750K · Pistons & rings Buying guide

Choose the size first, then check the package

Two standard piston kits can look similar while supplying different components. Bore measurements decide the size; the written contents decide which rings, clips or pins you still need.

Let measurements settle the size choice

Honda gives the K1 a 61mm original bore. That factory dimension is a starting reference, not proof of the size in a rebuilt engine. Have the bores measured before ordering standard or oversize pistons and rings.

Count kits, rings and clips independently

The featured piston packages each serve one piston, but their contents differ. The separate standard ring set also serves one piston, and the clip listing is a two-pack. Build the quantity around the cylinders being repaired and the chosen kit contents, rather than assuming one purchase covers the engine.

Common questions

What is the difference between the two standard piston kits?

The clips-included kit supplies a piston, pin and two clips without rings. The rings-included kit supplies a piston, rings and pin without clips. Both describe components for one piston, so compare their contents before ordering.

Can I order standard rings because the motorcycle is a 1971 model?

The year identifies a listed application but does not establish the cylinder size after previous repairs. Match rings to the measured piston and bore requirements. Confirm the size with the engine builder before selecting standard or oversize parts.

Does one standard ring set cover all four pistons?

No. The featured standard ring listing states that the set is for one piston. Its full-engine quantity is four sets, but order the quantity required for the work after checking whether your piston kits already contain rings.
