Choose the face material and speed units before opening the cluster

The MPH set is an overlay; the KM/H set replaces the face plates. That distinction affects preparation and retained parts. Inspect the existing faces and indicator jewels before ordering or dismantling the instruments.

Retain and prepare the MPH plastic faces

The decal instructions require the original plastic faces so the instruments can illuminate. Original printed information must be removed before applying the overlays. Mounting holes are pre-cut, while the odometer, tripmeter and warning-light openings must be cut afterwards; review the full product instructions before beginning.

Assess the KM/H jewels separately

The KM/H plates are supplied without indicator jewels. The description allows the existing jewels to be reused or replacements to be bought separately. Check the condition of those pieces and the rest of the opened gauge instead of assuming new face plates include every part of a restoration.

Face Plates & Decals: buying questions

Do both sets require instrument disassembly?

Yes. Both listings state that the speedometer and tachometer must be disassembled. Read the chosen product’s preparation requirements first; an external application to assembled glass is not the method described for either set.

Which MPH openings are already cut?

The mounting holes are pre-cut. The product description requires the odometer, tripmeter and warning-light openings to be cut after application, and original printed information removed from the plastic faces before applying the decals.

Can I reuse the indicator jewels with new KM/H plates?

The KM/H listing states that the original jewels can be reused, or replacements purchased separately. Inspect them before choosing that route because the new face-plate set does not include a replacement jewel set.
