Build a brake or clutch order for the assembly you are servicing on your 1979 CB650. Front pads, rear drum shoes and clutch plates have distinct applications. Package quantities also differ: a pad set serves one caliper, while clutch plates are separate pieces.

Keep each braking and clutch job clearly defined
Choose the correct friction surface before moving on to hydraulics or hardware. The front caliper, rear drum and clutch each need their own inspection and model-specific replacement parts.
The front pad set is supplied for one caliper; rear shoes come as two shoes. Hydraulic parts are separate choices. If the front master cylinder has been changed, match repair kits and levers to that installed unit rather than the motorcycle year alone.
Build the clutch stack correctly
The CB650 applications specify seven number-one friction plates, one number-two friction plate and seven steel plates. The linked spring kit contains six springs. These are different packages, so use the service manual and inspected stack to establish the full order.
Buying questions
How do I select front pads after a caliper change?
Identify the fitted caliper and compare the pad profile and dimensions with its verified specification. The original CB650 application cannot identify a caliper or front end installed by a previous owner.
Are all clutch friction plates identical?
No. The listed CB650 arrangement uses seven number-one plates and one number-two plate. Keep the two types separate when counting replacements and assembling the order.
Will an original repair kit fit a replacement master cylinder?
Not automatically. A replacement assembly may use different internals and levers. Identify the fitted master cylinder first, then choose the repair kit expressly intended for that unit.
Not sure which part you need?
Send your model and year, plus photos of your existing part and any changes to the original setup.
