1970 Honda CB750K · Engine Buying guide

Plan the engine job before choosing a kit

A routine filter change needs a different parts list from a top-end rebuild. Identify the work being done, compare the fitted components and read what each kit actually supplies.

Plan oil service around the dry-sump system

The original CB750 engine uses a separate oil tank and a replaceable filter element. Filter service, oil-hose replacement and internal pump work therefore need different parts lists. If the engine is being opened, identify the covers and assemblies being disturbed before choosing individual gaskets or an overhaul set.

Distinguish valve-stem seals from the other oil seals

The featured overhaul set includes eight valve-stem seals, but excludes engine oil seals and cylinder-head nut covers. A set described as an engine gasket set should not be assumed to replace every seal. Match the remaining seals to the shaft or joint being repaired and check the exact kit contents.

Common questions

Does the overhaul set include valve-stem seals as well as engine oil seals?

It includes eight valve-stem seals. The listing separately excludes engine oil seals and cylinder-head nut covers, so those items need their own checks. Use the actual repair locations to decide what must be added instead of treating all seals as one package.

Which oil pan gasket is listed for the 1970 CB750K?

The late-type oil pan gasket listing covers the 1970–78 CB750K. Compare it with the engine and pan actually fitted, especially if components have been exchanged, rather than borrowing the early 1969 gasket application.

Can I choose a piston kit from the model year alone?

The model application is only one check. Standard and oversize options are listed, and kits have different contents. Have the cylinder and piston requirements measured and confirmed before selecting the size and package for the rebuild.
