Match the seal dimensions and service layers

Oil seals and dust seals occupy different positions in the fork assembly. Each selected package contains two of its own seal type. Inspect both during planning, and select the required products for the forks actually fitted.

Check the assembly before buying seals

Identify the fork tubes and sliders currently fitted, especially if the motorcycle has had a front-end swap. Compare the specified oil-seal dimensions with that assembly. Inspect the sliding surfaces during diagnosis so a seal purchase does not overlook the underlying cause of leakage.

Separate pack count from repair quantity

The oil-seal set contains two seals, and the separate dust-seal set also contains two pieces. Keep the sealing positions distinct when deciding what needs renewal. Use the correct service manual for the repair procedure, fluid specification and checks of the fitted fork assembly.

Ordering questions

Can I use the same service instructions for both fork legs?

Honda’s late-CB650SC manual gives different left/right internals and fluid quantities. Follow its side-specific procedure; seal size does not determine the fluid fill.

Can these seals be selected from the Nighthawk name alone?

No. This oil-seal set is 39 × 52 × 11 mm for the listed 1983–85 CB650SC, while the separately listed 1982 CB650SC seal is 37 × 50 × 11 mm. Identify the fitted fork and full seal dimensions; the shared Nighthawk name does not make those sets interchangeable.

Should worn fork surfaces be checked before replacing the seals?

Yes. Inspect the fitted assembly as part of diagnosis and follow the service manual. New seals alone do not establish that damaged sliding surfaces or other fork components are suitable for reuse.
