Identify the push or pull side before ordering a throttle cable for the 1982 standard CB650. The two cables have distinct references and work with the fitted throttle arrangement. Check the sleeve and routing as well, especially if the handlebars have been changed.

Refresh the throttle feel on your Honda with this Nylon Throttle Sleeve, a replacement for OEM Ref. #53141-300-010 with exceptionally broad fitment across the...
The pull cable is type A and the push cable type B. Keep those identities with the part references while comparing the removed cables and the throttle sleeve.
The pull cable replaces 17910-426-831, while the push cable replaces 17920-425-700. Both list the standard 1981–82 CB650. Compare the installed throttle mechanism and cable ends before ordering rather than selecting two of the same cable by appearance.
Check a changed handlebar installation
Different bar height or control position can change the required cable routing and reach. Inspect the fitted sleeve and housing as well as the cables. Confirm the controls move correctly after service using the appropriate procedure, without assuming a new cable resolves every throttle problem.
Buying questions
What must the throttle do after the sleeve or cables are replaced?
With the engine off, confirm full opening and positive snap-back at every steering position. Inspect the housing and handlebar for burrs, and use the Honda routing and adjustment procedure. Do not start or ride the motorcycle with a binding throttle.
Does replacing the nylon sleeve also renew the grip and cable system?
No. The sleeve is supplied as a bare nylon tube. The rubber grip, push and pull cables, control housing and fasteners are separate; inspect those parts before assuming a sleeve-only repair will cure a stiff control.
What should I check after the handlebars have been changed?
Compare cable reach, routing, end fittings and the position of the throttle housing. The standard-model application does not establish suitability for every relocated control.
