Choose the cable for the specific instrument being repaired on your 1982 CB650. The speedometer and tachometer use separately listed replacements. Check both end connections and the routing on the bike, particularly if the handlebars or instruments have been repositioned.

Match cable ends and routing to the fitted instruments
The two Japanese-made cables serve the listed standard CB650 application. The separate plug closes the retained wheel-drive opening after speedometer-cable removal; its dimensions and function need checking independently from a cable replacement.
The tachometer cable is referenced as 37260-426-000 and the speedometer cable as 44830-KC1-010. Compare each with the removed cable and fitted instrument. A custom gauge may require additional compatibility checks beyond the standard-model cable application.
Choose the plug only for an unused cable opening
The approximately 15mm by 22mm plug closes the retained original wheel-drive opening when its mechanical speedometer cable has been removed, helping keep the gear clean. Check the opening and retention before ordering. This plug supplies no drive gear, sensor or other components for an electronic speedometer conversion.
Buying questions
Why can the speedometer still jump or make noise after a cable change?
Inspect the instrument and wheel-drive unit for wear or binding as well as the cable. Check for sharp bends or tension and fully seated ends; follow the cable maker’s lubrication instructions. A replacement cable cannot repair a worn or binding drive or gauge.
Do raised bars change the cable check?
They can change the required routing and reach. Compare the actual arrangement and connections before assuming an original-style cable still suits the relocated instruments.
When is the speedometer drive plug useful?
Use it for the retained original wheel-drive opening after removing the mechanical speedometer cable. Compare the approximately 15mm outside diameter and 22mm length with the fitted drive. Cable renewal and a complete electronic conversion require separate parts.
