1981 Honda CB650 · Fork-Seal Tools Buying guide
This carbon-steel split driver is intended for fork-seal installation. Confirm the tube size and service procedure before adding it to your tool kit, particularly when the motorcycle has a replacement front end.
The split driver is specified for 35 or 36 mm fork-seal applications, and its CB650 application identifies 35 mm forks. Measure the fitted tubes before ordering. A motorcycle that has received different forks may need a different-sized driver.
Check the fork’s service instructions and inspect the tubes and seal seats before installation. Have the correct replacement seals and required service supplies ready separately. This guide identifies the driver size without supplying fluid, tightening or installation specifications.
The 35/36 mm tool selection refers to the compatible fork size; the listed CB650 application is 35 mm. The oil seal’s full 35 × 48 × 10.5/11 mm specification describes separate dimensions. Match the driver to the fitted fork and the seal to its complete specification.
The driver is intended to distribute installation force evenly around the seal, reducing the chance of cocking or damaging it. Use the fork’s prescribed installation method and inspect the seat first; a correctly sized driver cannot make a damaged housing serviceable.
It may only be selected after verifying the fitted fork size and seal-installation requirements. A replacement front end does not inherit the original motorcycle’s tool application.
