1980 Honda CB650 · 35/36mm Fork Seal Driver Buying guide
The split carbon-steel driver is selected for the fork being serviced. Match its size and application before disassembly, then prepare the correct seals and service information for the repair.
The product lists 35mm forks for the CB650 and also supports 36mm applications. Measure the installed tubes and verify the tool against that fork, especially if the front end was changed. A listed model application does not override the fitted hardware.
The oil seal still needs to be selected by its full dimensions and the fork specification. Review the service procedure and existing dust seals and retaining rings before starting. The driver’s size does not determine the oil or assembly settings required.
The 35/36 mm tool selection refers to the compatible fork size; the listed CB650 application is 35 mm. The oil seal’s full 35 × 48 × 10.5/11 mm specification describes separate dimensions. Match the driver to the fitted fork and the seal to its complete specification.
The driver is intended to distribute installation force evenly around the seal, reducing the chance of cocking or damaging it. Use the fork’s prescribed installation method and inspect the seat first; a correctly sized driver cannot make a damaged housing serviceable.
Use the replacement fork’s measured diameter and tool requirements. Do not choose solely from the CB650 frame year if a different front end is installed.
