1980 Honda CB650 · Airbox & Pod Filters Buying guide
The airbox element and clamp-on pod perform filtration in different mounting arrangements. Decide whether the job is routine element replacement or an intake change before choosing the product.
The stock filter covers the stated 1980–82 CB650 application. Compare the airbox on the motorcycle with that reference, especially if components from another year have been fitted. Original engine identity alone does not identify a replaced intake housing.
The black pod is washable, supplied dry and sold individually. Verify the 42mm inlet and surrounding space at each mounting position. A pod conversion also requires the carburetor setup to be assessed rather than assuming the existing tuning remains suitable.
No. Match the outside diameter of the carburetor’s filter-mounting inlet to the filter connection, not the internal bore size. Check clearance at all four positions; the black pod is sold individually and a full four-carburetor set needs four.
The black 42mm pod is sold individually. Count the carburetor inlets being equipped and confirm clearance at each one before ordering the full quantity.
It arrives dry and is washable. The filter listing permits light oiling with suitable air-filter oil; follow the filter instructions and choose maintenance appropriate to the installed intake setup.
