1981 Honda CB900F Supersport · Carb Components Buying guide

Identify the circuit and sealing joint

Locate the fault before choosing a float, pump diaphragm or sealing pack. The float needle controls fuel entry, the accelerator pump enriches throttle opening, and drain and connector O-rings seal different joints on the CB900F carburetor bank.

Plan connector-tube work before splitting the bank

The twelve-ring package services fuel connector and accelerator tubes. Access requires enough carburetor separation to remove the tubes, so identify and record their locations before disassembly. A pump diaphragm, bowl gasket and connector seal perform different jobs even when the symptoms all involve fuel.

A drain leak is different from a connector-tube leak

The linked drain screw includes its own O-ring. A seal-only repair can use the separate drain O-rings if the screw and bowl seat are sound. Connector-tube O-rings seal between carburetors and require enough rack separation to remove the tubes; they are a different repair.

Buying questions

Will replacing a float stop every overflowing carburetor?

No. Check that the float moves freely and inspect the float needle, its seat and the fuel inlet for debris or damage. Verify the correct float level for the installed carburetor. A new float cannot repair a damaged needle seat.

How do I choose between drain-screw and connector-tube O-rings?

Trace the leak to its joint. Drain seals fit the individual bowl drain screws; connector seals fit tubes between the carburetors. Inspect the screw tip, groove and bowl seat before buying seals alone, and plan rack separation for connector-tube work.

Is the accelerator-pump diaphragm an air cut-off valve?

No. The pump diaphragm and rod serve the enrichment pump for throttle opening; air cut-off valves are separate assemblies. Confirm the affected circuit before ordering, since a split pump diaphragm and a damaged air cut-off valve do not use the same repair package.
