The 1980 CB900C Custom uses several small electrical parts that are easy to confuse when ordering. Identify the circuit and mounting position first, then separate a complete switch from its operating spring or the short wire and cover serving the air sensor.

Brake-light switches, the oil-pressure warning switch and the suspension air-sensor lead serve different circuits. Trace the symptom to the correct component before ordering a similarly named switch or wire.
The featured front switch references 35340-422-013 for the 1980–81 Custom. The spring-operated switch referencing 35350-166-005 serves the rear brake pedal. Check switch operation, mounting and adjustment as well as lamp power and wiring.
Keep warning and safety circuits intact
The air-sensor item is a connecting wire and cover for the suspension warning circuit, not a replacement sensor. The oil switch operates a warning circuit rather than displaying oil pressure. A clutch-lever safety switch belongs to the starter interlock; it is not a brake-light switch and should not be bypassed to conceal a starting fault.
Practical questions
Why does the brake light work from the pedal but not the hand lever?
Because the two controls have separate switches. Check the front switch’s actuation and continuity, then its connections and wiring. The working rear circuit helps narrow the fault, but does not establish that the front switch alone is bad.
Should I replace the oil-pressure switch if its light stays on while running?
Stop the engine and investigate the oil level, actual oil pressure and warning circuit using the service procedure. A new switch cannot correct a real lubrication fault.
Does the air-sensor lead include a new sensor?
No. It supplies the connecting wire and rubber cover. Check the existing sensor and its connections separately so you replace the failed component rather than an undamaged lead.
Not sure which part you need?
Send your model and year, plus photos of your existing part and any changes to the original setup.
