My bike is a 1980 CB750F which I bought new from Rick Case Honda in Barberton Ohio. I was 20 years old and I wanted the CBX, however this was to be my first vehicle purchase in which I needed a loan for. I couldn’t get a loan without a co-sign and my Mom would not co-sign for the CBX, so I talked her into the 750F.

It’s got 23,000 miles and my two boys drove it when they were teens until they moved out of the house and it sat for about ten years. It had a full tank in it when it sat and the carbs were drained, which was to my benefit later on.

About six years ago I decided to resurrect my adolescence bike. Exhaust had rusted through so I needed new pipes but only the originals would do, luckily I found a set on eBay.

It needed a lot of electrical work, I recall that was why it was parked originally. I replaced the rotor and stator and it finally was charging again. Rebuilt all the brake seals and master cylinders, new tires, and new AGM battery.

I wanted to oil down the cams before I attempted a start and wanted to make sure the engine rotated freely. The valve cover gasket was dry rotted and needed replacing. I poured about a quart of oil all over the cam and just a very small amount in each plug hole and rotated the engine with the back tire while it was in first.

I had a few leaks in the carb bowls but was able to get them to stop leaking with some permitex high tack. I also had a miss when it ran and determined it was a weak coil, so new coils were added.

Detailed & cleaned the engine and bike and a wash and wax...I was back on the road.
Then it sat the last two years and this spring I vowed to get it back on the road and ride it again. I seen the new CB1000F was coming out and it got me stoked to ride it.

The fuel leaks that dogged me during the first rebuild where far worse, so I put new carb rebuild kits on the carbs, fuel transfer o-rings, new bowl drain screws, new hoses on cross carb breather and a major detail on engine and bike, and I was back on the road.
Runs like new all over again.
