Hi Everyone,
This is probably the only one still left of a Honda CB 750 F based Yoshimura racing Daytona special limited edition imported to Australia back in 1977.
I bought if off a mate in 1978 who had run up a bunch of speeding tickets and had a reputation of having the quickest bikes in the neighbourhood at the time. An Australian motorcycle magazine had a small article about the bike describing it as having - Pops Yoshi 812 mL big boy or piston kit, Pops Yoshi ported head, Yoshi Daytona camshaft, Yoshi tailpipe, Yoshi “don’t mess with me” paint factory scheme, Mulholland shocks, Circle industry sprockets and Morris mags.
I kept the article clipping from this era along with many photos of the bike over the decades . Recently I have had the motor rebuilt by a renown Aussie bike mechanic and post classic sidecar racer Lindsay Donai who has done a fantastic job and I can’t praise him enough for this.
Other upgrades along the way include CycleX -Gaskets - Cryo primary chains - undercut gears -oil pump rebuilt etc many thanks to Ken and Suzi for their excellent service and parts. Joker Sidecover and engine oil pressure gauge, . 29 mm Mikuni Smoothbore Carbs, 915 Cc JE 10.5:1 piston kit, Kibblewhite Superflow Valves, APE H/Duty Studs and Valve springs, Lockhart Oil Cooler, Racetec Fork springs and valve upgrade Hel Braided brake lines, Alloy Fork Brace, Yamiya 4into 2 into 1 stainless exhaust and also running an older Yoshi style 4 into 1 pipe at the moment, Dyna ignition with Acell coils, Excell alloy rims (3.5 “x 18 rear , 2.5” x18 front H/Duty Spokes ) thanks to -JTR Racing Bridgestone. BT016 Tyres 110/80x 18 front, 150/70-18 rear, Ikon rear shocks, Frame strengthening and Swingarm bracing.
The head was flowed at 84 cfm @ 400 lift inlet, 64 cfm @400 lift exhaust ,In:Ex Flow 73% figures by P&A Gilbert Cylinder head service Qld. The bike is very sorted for the road with heaps of torque and good power throughout the mid range and a strong rush up the top end of the rev range on the cam fed by the 29mm Smoothbores on 98 ULP pump gas.
