1983 Honda CB650SC Nighthawk · Brake Pads & Rear Shoes Buying guide

Identify the fitted brake before choosing friction parts

Front pads and rear shoes are separate repair choices. Use their dimensions and replacement references to identify the parts needed for the job.

Compare the two replacement references

The front pads replace 45105-KN8-026; the rear shoes replace 43120-415-000. Use the appropriate reference when comparing replacements for the fitted caliper or drum.

Do not identify a pad from worn thickness alone

Wear changes the thickness of the removed friction material. Compare the pad outline, full listed dimensions and caliper application together rather than treating a worn pad as an exact template for the replacement.

Brake Pads & Rear Shoes questions

Does one front pad package serve the whole front brake?

Each set covers one caliper. Count the actual calipers being serviced after confirming their pad application, then choose the number of sets required.

Are new springs included with the rear shoes?

Spring contents are not stated for the two-shoe set. If the repair requires springs, confirm whether they are supplied before adding separate ones.

What changes if the motorcycle has a brake conversion?

Identify the actual donor caliper, pad or drum assembly and choose parts for that equipment. The original CB650SC application does not establish compatibility with a substituted brake assembly.

Not sure which part you need?

Send your model and year, plus photos of your existing part and any changes to the original setup.
