The 1981 CB650C Custom has several narrow brake-service applications that deserve more than a broad model-family match. Compare the two-screw reservoir, brake lever and caliper parts with the installed assemblies, then treat the dedicated clutch cable and rear drum shoes as separate purchases.

Identify each fitted assembly before building the order
The 1981 master-cylinder parts differ in their listed applications from earlier repair pieces. The clutch cable spans 1980–81 Custom models, while the rear shoe set supplies two shoes for its drum-brake location.
The selected reservoir kit is the two-screw-cover type. Internal rebuild parts and levers have their own references, so compare the unit on the motorcycle before ordering. An aftermarket master cylinder may need its own repair parts even on an otherwise standard Custom.
Separate cable service from internal clutch work
The dedicated Custom clutch cable replaces 22870-460-700 and supports the listed 1980–81 application. Check its routing and fittings before buying. Clutch plates and springs address a different repair scope and should follow inspection of the actual problem.
Brakes & Clutch Controls questions
Is the reservoir kit the earlier four-screw type?
The selected 1981 package is specifically the two-screw-cover type. Identify the fitted master cylinder and use its own parts rather than transferring an earlier year’s repair-kit assumption.
How many rear shoes are supplied?
Two shoes are included in the rear drum package. Check springs and brake-rod hardware separately as part of planning the rear service.
Will the listed clutch cable suit taller handlebars?
Compare the required reach, end fittings and routing on the modified controls before ordering. The 1980–81 Custom application does not establish sufficient cable length for every changed bar or perch position.
