1982 Honda CB650 · Fork-Seal Installation Tool Buying guide

Check driver size and access for the fork job

The split design is intended for seal installation on conventional or inverted forks of the specified size. Match the tool to the actual assembly and use the correct fork-service procedure.

Select by the actual fork dimension

The tool is specified for 35 or 36 mm fork seals, and the application lists standard CB650 35 mm forks. A swapped front end may need a different size. Keep the tool measurement separate from the seal’s outside diameter and thickness when comparing the order.

Prepare the repair before driving the seal

Inspect the fork and housing and obtain the appropriate replacement seals before installation. Follow the service procedure for protecting the new seal and seating it correctly. The tool’s fit does not establish the condition of the components or the correct service settings.

Buying questions

Should I choose the driver from the seal’s 48 mm outside diameter?

The 35/36 mm tool selection refers to the compatible fork size; the listed CB650 application is 35 mm. The oil seal’s full 35 × 48 × 10.5/11 mm specification describes separate dimensions. Match the driver to the fitted fork and the seal to its complete specification.

Why use a seal driver instead of applying force at one spot?

The driver is intended to distribute installation force evenly around the seal, reducing the chance of cocking or damaging it. Use the fork’s prescribed installation method and inspect the seat first; a correctly sized driver cannot make a damaged housing serviceable.

Is it limited to conventional forks?

The driver supports conventional or inverted forks of the stated size. Confirm access and follow the service procedure for the particular assembly.
