Keep the two throttle-cable roles separate on your 1981 Honda CB650. Cable A is the pull cable and cable B is the push cable; a nylon sleeve is another service choice. Changed handlebars require a fresh routing and reach check.

Refresh the throttle feel on your Honda with this Nylon Throttle Sleeve, a replacement for OEM Ref. #53141-300-010 with exceptionally broad fitment across the...
The selected cables are specifically listed for the 1981–82 standard CB650 application. Compare both ends and the fitted route, then decide whether the sleeve also needs replacement during the same repair.
The pull cable replaces reference 17910-426-831; the push cable replaces 17920-425-700. Keep the labels with the removed cables when comparing replacements. They are separately listed parts, so make sure the order covers both positions when both need renewal.
Account for changed controls
Different handlebars or throttle housings can change the required cable routing and reach. Compare the existing layout before ordering standard-application cables. Use the correct service procedure to check cable adjustment and unrestricted throttle return after the assembly is repaired.
Ordering questions
What must the throttle do after the sleeve or cables are replaced?
With the engine off, confirm full opening and positive snap-back at every steering position. Inspect the housing and handlebar for burrs, and use the Honda routing and adjustment procedure. Do not start or ride the motorcycle with a binding throttle.
Does replacing the nylon sleeve also renew the grip and cable system?
No. The sleeve is supplied as a bare nylon tube. The rubber grip, push and pull cables, control housing and fasteners are separate; inspect those parts before assuming a sleeve-only repair will cure a stiff control.
Are standard cables suitable for taller bars?
Verify their reach, routing and end fittings against the modified controls before ordering. The original model application does not establish suitable length for taller or differently positioned handlebars.
Not sure which part you need?
Send your model and year, plus photos of your existing part and any changes to the original setup.
