2004 Honda CB900F 919 · Tank-Holder Rubbers Buying guide

Match the front cushion to its mounting position

The front tank rubber for the 2004 919 replaces Honda reference 17611-425-000. Two are fitted at the standard front supports, but they are sold individually. Match the cushion’s position and the tank’s mating shape before deciding whether to order one or both.

Inspect the surfaces around a worn cushion

A replacement rubber needs a sound mounting point. Check the frame support and the tank surface it engages for damage or alteration, and make sure a loose or missing cushion has not allowed metal-to-metal contact. Renewing the rubber alone will not correct a bent bracket or a mismatched tank mount.

Choose the pair by condition and repair scope

One purchased unit supplies one front cushion; two supply the standard front pair. Inspect both sides even if the complaint starts on one side. The seller recommends renewing hardened or damaged front cushions as a pair so the tank has even support. Identify rear rubbers separately if they also need attention.

Practical questions

Can this front rubber replace a worn rear tank cushion?

No direct substitution is established. Honda identifies the front cushion separately from the rear support and pivot rubbers. Match the actual worn position before ordering reference 17611-425-000.

Should I order one rubber if only one side looks damaged?

Individual supply allows a one-piece order, but inspect the other front cushion and both mounting surfaces first. If the pair is hardened or damaged, the seller recommends replacing both; order quantity two for that job.

The tank moved after recent servicing. Should I order rubbers immediately?

First check that both existing cushions are present, seated correctly and engaged with the tank, and inspect the rear mounting hardware. Replace damaged or missing parts after locating the problem rather than assuming recent movement always means the rubber has worn out.
