Will the fork caps fit any Honda fork with a similar top plug?

No. Confirm the exact motorcycle fitment, cap thread, diameter, depth and fork-tube design. A similar appearance does not prove thread compatibility.

How should fork caps be removed and installed safely?

Support the motorcycle and unload the front fork as the service manual directs because the springs may press against the caps. Start both caps by hand, protect the O-rings and torque them to the correct specification.
