1985 Honda CB650SC Nighthawk · Front Wheel Bearings & Seals Buying guide

Count bearings separately from wheel seals

Two bearings are specified for the front wheel, while the seal kit is a separate two-piece product. Compare the fitted wheel and bearing identification before purchasing either.

Identify the wheel you are servicing

A replacement wheel can change the bearing and seal requirements even on a correctly identified motorcycle. Check the installed bearing marking and wheel assembly before ordering. The 6302-2RS designation is more useful than matching an old bearing by appearance alone.

Keep the two quantities distinct

Two bearings are specified per front wheel, but the bearing product and two-piece seal kit are separate orders. Review the existing seals and associated hardware during the repair. The seal-kit count does not mean that bearings are included with it.

Ordering questions

Can bearings removed during hub service be refitted if they look usable?

Honda’s late-CB650SC manual calls for new bearings after removal. Allow for replacement before dismantling the hub, even when the removed bearings appeared usable.

Do the seals built into the 6302-2RS replace the wheel’s separate seals?

The bearing has its own two synthetic seals, while kit 27-9019 supplies the separate two front-wheel seals. Those are distinct components and orders. Inspect the wheel’s external sealing arrangement independently instead of deleting that service item because the replacement bearing is sealed.

Are these parts confirmed for a replacement wheel?

Only after its requirements are checked. Identify the replacement wheel and compare bearing markings and seal dimensions; the motorcycle’s model year alone cannot establish a changed wheel’s internal parts.
