For the 1984 CB650SC, replacing an ignition coil also means deciding what to do with its high-tension leads. The two model-listed coil choices differ in supplied wiring. Compare the existing cap and lead connections as part of the diagnosis before ordering individual components.

Replace your DOHC CB ignition coil with this Rick's Electric Replacement Ignition Coil, replacing OEM #30500-422-003 / #30500-422-013. Comes with wires attached. Two coils used...
Compare coils, wires and the separate cap by specification
The offered coils share replacement references but differ in supplied wires. The XD05F cap has its own product identity; shared motorcycle coverage does not establish every coil, lead and cap combination.
Rick’s coil 24-6011 comes with wires attached; coil 17-6803 requires separately supplied 7 mm high-tension wires. Both are sold individually and reference 30500-422-003 / 30500-422-013. Neither record establishes spark-plug cap inclusion.
Keep the cap reference and quantity specific
Cap 23-3119 supplies one XD05F-type cap without high-tension wire. Its two-per-bike note names the CB750, not this Nighthawk. Determine the required cap types and quantities from the fitted assembly rather than transferring another model’s count.
Ignition Coils & Caps questions
Does the shared CB650SC application prove the cap fits either replacement coil’s leads?
The records do not establish that complete combination. Compare the XD05F cap’s plug and wire interfaces with the lead being used, and confirm the component specifications before treating separate motorcycle listings as proof of interchangeability.
Can these coils be selected by reference after an ignition conversion?
Neither coil listing specifies primary resistance. Obtain the coil specification and compare it with the installed ignition manufacturer’s requirements; the shared replacement references alone do not establish compatibility with a changed system.
Does one coil order replace both coils on the motorcycle?
No. Each of the two replacement-coil listings is sold individually; the listed original system uses two coils. Order two coils if diagnosis calls for replacing both. The attached-wire and separate-wire options are alternatives, so do not count one of each as a required kit.
