1982 Honda CB650 · Electrical Parts Buying guide

Keep the loom, coil and regulator specifications separate

The main loom has a model-specific application, the coil has a separate high-tension wire requirement, and the regulator has a two-plug wiring inventory. Compare each purchase with the components actually fitted.

Identify the loom and coil packages

Loom 73-0930 references 32100-460-000 and lists standard CB650 1980–82 and CB650C 1980–81 applications. Coil 17-6803 is sold individually and requires separately supplied 7 mm high-tension wires. Its record does not establish spark-plug cap inclusion, so confirm that detail if caps are needed.

Compare the regulator’s stated connections

Regulator 24-2030 references 31600-460-731 / 31600-426-000. It has five wires in a six-prong housing and three in a four-prong housing. Compare the occupied wire positions as well as the two housing shapes.

Buying questions

Does the coil reference establish a match to an aftermarket ignition?

The coil record does not specify primary resistance. Obtain the coil specification and compare it with the installed ignition manufacturer’s requirements; the replacement reference alone does not establish compatibility with a changed system.

Do matching regulator plugs establish compatibility with a changed battery?

The regulator listing gives its connections and replacement references but no battery-chemistry compatibility or charging-voltage limits. Obtain the regulator manufacturer’s specification and compare it with the fitted battery’s requirements before choosing it for a converted setup.
