One friction plate is included. One Friction Plate #2 is used per compatible motorcycle.

Which Honda clutch friction plate does part 39-1090 replace?

It replaces Honda OEM 22202-392-000 and 22202-371-000. This is the single #2 plate, not the more numerous #1 friction plate used elsewhere in the stack.

How should a new clutch friction plate be prepared and checked?

Coat or soak the plate in the same motorcycle engine oil specified for the clutch before assembly, following the Honda service procedure. Measure the complete stack, inspect the steel plates and preserve the required plate order and orientation.
