Two plugs and an installation Allen key are included, enough for both ends of one 7/8-inch handlebar.

What should be checked after installing the throttle-side bar-end plug?

Leave clearance between the plug and throttle grip, then confirm the throttle snaps closed at every steering position. A plug or grip rubbing the throttle tube can hold the throttle open.

Does the 7/8-inch size refer to the handlebar's inside diameter?

No. It is the handlebar outside diameter. The plug installs inside the open end, so the bar's internal diameter and any factory insert must also be checked.
