Clean oil delivered at the correct pressure is essential to the bearings, camshaft, valvetrain and other moving engine components. Routine oil service involves more than replacing the oil itself: the correct filter, sealing O-rings, washers and drain-plug hardware help keep the system clean and properly sealed. Oil-pressure gauges can assist with monitoring system operation, while magnetic drain plugs may collect some ferrous particles for inspection during an oil change.
